President of the Treasury Board holds virtual meeting with Laval businesses
May 21, 2020 – Laval, Quebec – Angelo Iacono, MP for Alfred–Pellan, welcomed the Hon. Jean-Yves Duclos, President of the Treasury Board, to a virtual meeting today with Laval’s business community. This joint initiative was organized by Mr. Iacono and Prox‑Industriel group.
Discussions mainly focused on the Government of Canada’s economic response to COVID-19. The meeting helped address some of the concerns expressed by Laval entrepreneurs, and it was made clear that co-operation is essential for developing programs in tune with a constantly changing economy.
Laval businesses are facing unprecedented challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and both Mr. Iacono and Mr. Duclos provided assurances that the federal government is there to support them.
They outlined a number of new assistance measures, such as the extension and expansion of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), the expansion of the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA), access to additional cash flow through the Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP), the introduction of Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) and the launching of the Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF).
