Supporting Black communities in Laval
New federal programs to support diversity
November 25, 2020 – Laval, Quebec – Black communities play an essential role in Laval, in both the business and community sectors. To support local organizations with diverse ownership or management, the federal government recently launched calls for proposals for four federal programs:
By providing the tools that Black community leaders and entrepreneurs need to flourish, the federal government is continuing its fight against racism and discrimination. “Black communities in my riding contribute to the vitality of Laval every day. Unfortunately, they still face barriers such as prejudice and discrimination. I’m proud that our federal government is committed to helping fight racism, but, most of all, that it is providing concrete support to Laval’s racialized communities,” explained Angelo Iacono, MP for Alfred-Pellan.
Iacono is encouraging Black community leaders and entrepreneurs to submit applications for these federal programs. Residents of Alfred-Pellan who have questions about the new initiatives can contact their MP’s office.
