Promoting Alfred-Pellan businesses around the world

Encouraging exports of Canadian know-how

November 2, 2018 – Laval, Quebec – Canada has plenty of talented entrepreneurs who are making a name for our country around the world. To support those companies in their efforts to do business with other countries, the Government of Canada is pursuing an ambitious program of diversifying international trade. With the various agreements it has signed, Canada will be the only G7 country to reach a trade agreement with all of the G7’s member states.

Angelo Iacono, MP for Alfred-Pellan, proudly notes that companies in his constituency are about to secure unparalleled access to global markets. For that reason, it is vital for local entrepreneurs to have the financing, tools and services needed to promote Alfred-Pellan companies abroad.

Of the resources available to Laval firms, the MP’s office is one of the first doors to knock on. The office of the MP for Alfred-Pellan can provide local entrepreneurs with information about existing financing programs or support in forming partnerships. In fact, the MP’s office organizes trade networking activities to support the international aspirations of Laval companies and facilitate initial contacts with trading partners.

Another resource that helps find trade opportunities for our local companies is the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS). With a presence in 160 cities around the world and contacts with nearly 15,000 Canadian companies every year, the TCS assists Canadian firms in navigating the various markets and in achieving international success. On average, companies that use the TCS’s services export more and have access to more markets than companies that do not rely on the TCS.

Consequently, Angelo Iacono, MP for Alfred-Pellan, encourages entrepreneurs in his riding who are interested in making inroads in international markets to contact his constituency office for information about the resources provided by the Government of Canada so that they can maximize their chances of having their know-how recognized on the international scene.
