New project for seniors in Alfred-Pellan

The Centre Communautaire Petit Espoir is receiving $12,716 for a project under the NHSP

August 2, 2018 – Laval – The MP for Alfred-Pellan, Angelo Iacono, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, announced that the Centre Communautaire Petit Espoir has received funding from the Government of Canada for its project as part of the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

The Centre Communautaire Petit Espoir is a non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life for Laval residents, especially in the Saint-François area. The community centre will receive $12,716 for its “active and involved seniors” project so it can offer new activities to reduce social isolation, encourage intergenerational dialogue, improve safety for seniors, and also offer sewing and painting workshops.

That is why the Government of Canada stands by its support for positive aging initiatives, and why it encourages seniors to play an active role in our communities through volunteering, sharing knowledge and participating in social activities.

• This project was approved as part of the Government of Canada’s 2017–18 call for proposals for community projects as part of the NHSP.
• The Government of Canada has invested approximately $35 million in the NHSP to fund more than 1,880 approved community projects further to the NHSP 2017–18 call for proposals.
• Since 2004, the NHSP has approved roughly 21,600 projects in hundreds of communities across Canada, for a total investment of approximately $452.5 million from the Government of Canada.
• Eligible organizations can receive funding of up to $25,000.
