Viau Food Products is doing double duty to accelerate growth
Government of Canada awards $2,100,000 in financial assistance to the Laval business

Angelo Iacono, Member of Parliament for Alfred-Pellan, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, today announced that a $2,100,000 repayable contribution has been granted to Viau Food Products to help it improve the efficiency of its operations.
This highly innovative family business is the first to have developed, produced and marketed dry cured pepperoni in Canada, and is the largest producer of this pepperoni. It is widely known through its major innovations in the processing of a variety of deli meats.
As part of its four-year strategic plan, Viau Food Products is improving its productivity and increasing its exports to stimulate growth. The business has launched more than 60 products since 2013 and is focusing on R&D to compete in a highly competitive market. The project will allow Viau to increase its productivity by investing in state-of-the-art equipment, adding additional line capacity to support its growth and investing in new lines that will help it broaden its product offering. In the end, 125 jobs are expected to be created in Laval (Alfred-Pellan) and the greater Montréal area.
