Inter-governmental priorities focused on well-being of Laval residents

February 14, 2018 – Laval, Quebec – The MP for Alfred-Pellan, Angelo Iacono, recognizes that the well-being of Laval residents is a priority not only for him, but also for his municipal, provincial and federal counterparts. As 2018 gathers momentum, the three levels of government have been working closely together to produce tangible results for Laval residents.

As regards culture, the City of Laval will be able to expand its offerings in the region and bring its scientific museums together thanks to an investment announced on January 22, 2018, by the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage. An investment of $2.7 million is being made to relocate the Armand-Frappier Museum’s Centre d'interprétation des biosciences to the current site of the Cosmodome.

Angelo Iacono and his Laval colleagues met with the Mayor of Laval on January 25, 2018, to discuss the needs of Laval residents and to confirm their support for better inter-governmental co-operation.

Public transit in Laval will also benefit from these closer ties further to the joint announcement by the Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec on February 2, 2018, announcing an investment of over $42.6 million to carry out 26 projects for the Société de transport de Laval (STL). Once these projects are complete, Laval’s public transit system will be more reliable, effective and inclusive, able not only to respond to the immediate needs of the community, but also to meet future increases in ridership.

Over the next several months, the various levels of government will continue to work together in the best interests of Laval residents.
