State of emergency in Laval due to flooding

LAVAL, Monday, May 8, 2017 - The Member of Parliament for Alfred-Pellan, Angelo Iacono would like to inform the citizens of his constituency of the various measures put in place by the City of Laval, and also the measures to be taken if you are at risk of flooding or if you are flooded. He also acknowledges the incredible work of police officers, firefighters and many volunteers, as well as the time invested and dedication of the Mayor of Laval Marc Demers, the Deputy Mayor David De Cotis and the municipal councilors who are present in the field and will provide him with the regular updates.

Mr. Iacono reiterated his support for the disaster victims and ensured his full cooperation with the emergency services and the municipality.

Citizens affected by floods: What to do?
Priority actions in the event of flooding:

• Use the upper floor to store stuff from the basement and the ground floor.
• Close the drain in the basement.
• Turn off gas and electricity. If the water has started to rise, make sure to have your feet on a dry surface and use a wooden stick to cut off the electricity.
• Observe the safety instructions issued by the authorities.
