Supporting projects that break isolation for Alfred-Pellan seniors
Cercle des fermières de Saint-François to receive funding under New Horizons for Seniors Program
April 23, 2019 – Laval, Quebec – Through the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP), the Government of Canada supports community-based projects that engage seniors in our communities and help them stay active and involved in all aspects of society.

Today, Angelo Iacono, MP for Alfred–Pellan, on behalf of the Minister for Seniors, announced an investment of $9,010 in support of the Cercle des fermières de Saint-François’s plans to continue initiatives that fight the isolation of senior women in our community. This funding will allow the organization to offer new courses with the purchase of a sewing machine, as well as replace knitting and weaving equipment to continue offering textile arts training.
This Cercle des fermières de Saint-François initiative will have a positive impact not only on senior women in Alfred-Pellan, but on all of us as well. By enhancing the engagement and inclusion of all members of our communities, we are building a more resilient and inclusive society.
